Salah is one of the best and most friendly promoters on the Paris soul music scene (along with FreeYourFunk and What the Funk). On Saturday the 22nd of April he’s invited me to play at La Bellevilloise with a host of amazing nu soul and future boogie acts : LADI 6 (see pic) who will be performing live with JULIAN DYNE on keyboards, DJ NATURAL SELF from the UK and my friend PSYCUT. Oh damn ! Une prise multiple (connectée au secteur) est tombée dans un seau de glaçons. La java est plongé dans le noir, et Groov’shakra a la fabuleuse idée de faire chanter happy birthday aux gens en attendant que l’on sèche tout ça. On reprend, mais à la fin de la soirée je me rends compte que l’enregistrement a été coupé et tout ce qui précédait la coupure a été perdu. Now that was such a shame. Vingt cinq (25) des meilleurs djs Parisiens, tous là pour mona à jouer deux ou trois morceaux chacun : soul, US garage, latin funk, deep house, broken beats, disco, nu wave … une bande son de rêve qui passe à la trappe. Ce set a été enregistré à Mona en janvier 2011 entre 3h et 6h, juste après le set d’Alton Miller, légendaire dj de la première heure de Detroit et invité de Mona ce soir là. Le micro est resté ouvert durant tout l’enregistrement pour plus de vibes ! Désolé pour les moments de saturation, difficile de tout suivre ce soir là, les énergies étaient très fortes (record d’affluence, hors anniversaires, battu pour mona) ! Big up à Greg Gautier qui nous avait prêté sa table DJR400, dont les composants font toute la différence. Ca s’entend sur l’enregistrement et ça s’entendait surtout en salle.
